"The pieces presented in this new recording were composed in a period beginning in 1900 and ending in 1957 and show the interaction between modernity and the nationalism with romantic tinges that was typical of the time. For these composers the guitar was the exemplification of the popular spirit whose essence they wanted to instil in their music, eventually resorting to the ideal of the flamenco guitar. Emili Pujol (1886-1980), Joaquim Malats (1872-1912), Joan Manén (1883-1971), Robert Gerhard (1896-1970) and Joaquin Turina (1882-1949) all started out, with very different styles, under the dictates of the composer and musicologist F. Pedrell, who is one of the keys to understanding this period of Spanish music. The works on this recording were selected and performed by the Italian guitarist Giuseppe Carrer, presenting us with a new facet of the Spanish guitar. "

Realment recomanable.
