He studied in the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música in Barcelona with Gracià Tarragó (guitar) and Xavier Montsalvatge (composition). Since 1972 he is a guitar teacher in this Conservatoire.
He joined the Tarragó Quartet since its foundation in 1971 until 1989, with European and international tours. He has been the president of the Catalan Guitar Society and a musical critic. He is also a member of the Catalan Composers Association and his works are performed around Europe and Japan.
In 1993 he received the Catalan National Music Prize for his work in performance and diffusion of contemporary music.
