Mateo Albéniz
Composer and theorist, worked in San Sebastián (Basque Country) until 1795, and then in Logroño. He returned back to San Sebastián and was the kapellmeister in Santa María la Redonda, but he quitted the job because of his bad health in 1829. In Santa María he wrote his most famous method, Instrucción metódica especulativa y práctica para enseñar a cantar y tañer la música moderna y antigua (1802). He composed masses, vespers, motets, villancicos and other sacred works, as well as sonatas for keyboard.
