Unlike his two brothers Joan and Josep, Manuel Pla did not enjoy a career outside of Madrid. Nevertheless, while famous for his stage music (tonadillas, zarzuelas, comedies...), he also wrote some church music and instrumental pieces of remarkable quality. His style is located completely within the galant aesthetic between the Baroque and Classical periods.
