The most important influences in the development of Tomás Marco’s style come from the Darmstadt school but they are combined with a wide range of other elements, reflected in the variety of genres and aesthetic approaches found in his extensive production. He has taught at the Royal Conservatory in Madrid and is a distinguished critic, educator and writer on music. His influence has widely felt, as a result of positions he has held at numerous other institutions, notably Radio Nacional de España, the Centre for the Promotion of Contemporary Music, and in his role as Head of the National Institute for Music and the Performing Arts.
