The Orchestra of Valencia premieres "Orbes, quasi una passacagglia", by Carlos Fontcuberta

The Orquesta de Valencia, directed by Alexander Liebreich, premieres "Orbes, quasi una passacagglia", by Carlos Fontcuberta, next Friday, January 31. The concert program also includes Tchaikovsky's "Rococo Variations" and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 "Scottish".
The author says of the work:
It has something of a great orchestral passacaglia, although the principle of thematic variation is not based here on melodic procedures. Instead, and although the spatialization of the sound is not resorted to, a spatial and multidimensional type of listening is called for, since the different sound materials are heard on different temporal scales, as if different degrees of zoom were applied to them, and from different perspectives that change the order in which the sound objects are heard. The whole piece is a kind of big zoom on its first eight measures, a variation of the initial theme, dilated in an extreme way in time.
