Jaime Martín, National Music Award 2022

Flutist and conductor Jaime Martín (Santander, 1965) has been awarded the 2022 National Music Prize awarded by the Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte. The jury highlighted his "indisputable musical talent" and also his commitment and pedagogical zeal with the younger generations.
Jaime Martín began his professional career as a flautist, and during his career he has been linked to such prestigious formations as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields or the English Orchestra National Opera. He was one of the founding members of the Cadaqués Orchestra, with which he has collaborated on numerous recordings. He made the leap to management in 2008, alongside Sir Neville Marriner. He is currently principal conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and music director of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.
In the catalog of the record label Tritó we have several recordings by Jaime Martín, either as a flutist or as a conductor. In this second aspect, we want to mention a bunch of records with unpublished or recovered repertoire of Catalan composers from the 19th and 20th centuries: Pedrell, Rodoreda, Nicolau, Albéniz, Granados, Vives, Lamote de Grignon, Garreta, Taltabull and Toldrà.
