Tritó publishes the Trio Op. 50 of Granados
Tritó Edicions has published the score of the Trio for violin, cello and piano, op. 50 by Enric Granados. This is a critical edition, by the members of the Trio Rodin, which starts from the autograph manuscript preserved in the Historical Archive of the Museu de la Música de Barcelona.
The edition, which incorporates indications in order to facilitate its interpretation, replaces the one Tritó published in 2010 and which only took into consideration the first edition of the work, published 60 years after Granados' death. Sheet music will be available soon.
The Trio Op. 50, together with the Quintet op. 49, are Granados' two most important cambric style works. Both premiered at the Salón Romero in Madrid in 1895. The Trio, performed by the violinist Julio Francés, a very young Pau Casals on the cello and Granados himself on the piano, was enthusiastically received by the public and received the in favor of the criticism of the moment.
The members of Trio Rodin (Carles Puig, Esther Garcia and Jorge Mengotti), who started working with this work in 2015 in order to include it on their album Enrique Granados. Chamber music with piano (OnClassical, 2016), presented live on May 26 at the Petit Palau in Barcelona, as part of the 20/21 season of the BCN Clàssics cycle.
The edition of the Trio for violin, cello and piano, op. 50 enriches the catalog of works by Enric Granados published by Tritó Edicions, among which stand out the operas Goyescas and Follet, the Quintet in G minor and the complete work for voice and piano. The record label Tritó also has in its catalog the CD recordings of Goyescas, Follet, Picarol, Gaziel, Azulejos and the two chamber works mentioned: the Trio op. 50 and the Quintet op. 49.
